In 2009, the concept began with the birth of Africa Fashion Week in New York (AFWNY) , the premier capital for Fashion, Entertainment, and Lifestyle brands with plans of showcasing contemporary designs from Africa in  Miami,  Los Angeles, New York,  London ,  Paris , Milan , Berlin, and  Tokyo
